The Aspen Airport is Sardy Field.
The Eagle County Regional Airport is the second busiest in the state of Colorado in the winter months. In summary, the Eagle Airport can accept much larger aircraft than the Aspen airport as well as handle a much larger number of passengers. The airport is located at 6,547 ft elevation and misses most of the high altitude temperatures, winds and storms that close and delay flights. Aspen is a 76 mile drive from Eagle through beautiful Glenwood Canyon then over highway 82 with a stunning view of Mount Sopris. Vail Eagle is a consistent airport with a number of direct flights to major cities. Travel time between Eagle and Aspen is reasonable and flights are on larger aircraft and run on schedule.
Winter storms bring the best snow for skiing, but the worst conditions for travel. Aspen Airport frequently closes during snowstorms. SUV and Van transfers are available from the Aspen or Snowmass areas to Denver from $750. Please call for availability, details and pricing 970 926-2593.
